Well, Mindanao was really cool. Another wonderful experience. But before I blog on that, I have more news. The trip to Negros had been postponed again! The power company, EDC, apparently had some work that needed to get done that didn't get done. So I won't be going to Negros after all. DRAT! I am very disappointed...
I have contacted UP-Los Banos, where the Museum of Natural History is, and am trying to set up a meeting with its director, who is an entomologist. I hope to spend a day or two there (Mon and/or Tues) learning more about IDing insects.
In the meantime, I have been visiting with my cousins, and Sunday I will be going back to Candaba Swamp with Dan and Vinchu Mantaring and one of the people who was going to also go to Negros (a grad student at UP) who is also a member of the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines. Actually, she is one of the founding members!

Hi Hans,
Enjoyed reading your blogs. Shame it's all coming to an end soon (for now....). Bad news about the Ipod too.
I've been gradually and painstakingly sorting through my photos (guess it will take you ten times as long as me :) If you drop me a mail at ngillett@randomhouse.co.uk I will make them available for you - there are a few from our last evening in manila - including some great videos of the dancing. And there are also some of the crater at Taal which I'm sure Carolyn will like.
Speak soon and happy travelling for the last part of you epic journey, Noel & Hannah.
